Welcome to the Delaware Food Industry Council

The Delaware Food Industry Council (DFIC), a non-profit Delaware corporation, is the only statewide organization dedicated solely to the interests of the food industry. Our mission is to promote, enhance and represent the food industry in Delaware. We currently represent nearly sixty supermarkets and 9,000 employees. Our members are comprised of large and small food retailers, convenience stores, food manufacturers, suppliers and related service providers.

In the food industry, where profit is measured in pennies and consolidation is increasingly commonplace, a core of Delaware merchants recognized that to thrive in today’s challenging economy, they needed to unite.

The DFIC works actively in Dover to represent the food industry at the state capitol, making certain that legislators understand the food industry’s point of view on legislative and regulatory issues. While the primary mission of the Council is to represent the food industry in Delaware’s General Assembly and at the local level, it will also insure that the members are represented in regulatory matters and other non-legislative issues that affect profitability.
